Best Blinq Alternatives for Contractors

What each option costs, what the free plans include, and what happens after a homeowner gets your card.

If you use Blinq, or you are about to, the question is not whether it can share your phone number. Almost every digital business card can do that. For a contractor, the real question is what happens next: after a homeowner receives your card, can they easily learn about your services, request work, and become a lead you can follow up with?

Contact sharing gets your number into someone's phone. It does not tell you who asked for a quote last Tuesday, or which realtor keeps sending you work. If those things matter to you, it is worth looking past contact sharing. If they do not, Blinq may already be the right tool, and this guide will tell you so.

Disclosure: TradePass publishes this comparison, and TradePass is one of the options covered. Every competitor price links to its source so you can check it yourself.

Quick Recommendations

  • Stay with Blinq if you mainly need free, polished contact sharing, or you manage a team that needs admin controls.
  • TradePass if you want homeowners to request quotes from your card, keep those requests in one inbox and track referral partners.
  • HiHello if you want a generous free plan with up to four cards.
  • Popl if your business captures leads at trade shows and events.
  • Wave Connect if you want a basic lead capture form on a free plan.

Blinq and Four Alternatives Compared

Everything below was checked on official product pages on October 7, 2026. Monthly and annual billing are shown separately, and physical NFC cards are listed apart from software plans. If a feature is marked as not confirmed, we could not verify it from an official source. That does not mean the tool lacks it.

When Blinq Is Already Enough

Blinq's free plan is useful. You get two digital cards, unlimited sharing by QR code, widget, email and text, a wallet pass and an email signature, all at no cost. Its NFC cards are a one-time purchase and, according to Blinq, do not need a subscription.

  • You mostly hand out your number. If most of your work comes from people who already know they want to call you, free contact sharing does the job.
  • You already have a quote system. If your website or booking tool handles requests, your card only needs to point people there.
  • You run a team. Blinq Business adds admin controls, custom templates and CRM sync, which are built for rolling cards out to many people.
  • You do not want another bill. Blinq Free plus a one-time NFC card is a low-cost setup.

If that sounds like you, switching probably will not change much. The rest of this guide is for contractors who want the card to do more of the follow-up work.

What Matters for a Contractor

  • Sharing by text, link, QR and NFC. Most homeowner contact happens by text, so a clean link matters more than a tap card.
  • Showing services and work examples. A list of services and a few job photos answer the question "do they do what I need?"
  • The homeowner's inquiry experience. Can someone describe a job and send it in a minute, without downloading anything?
  • Handling incoming leads. Requests should land in one place, with a way to mark who you have called back.
  • Referral attribution. If realtors or property managers send you work, it helps to see which of them actually produce requests.
  • Total cost and commitments. Add software and card costs, and check whether billing is monthly, yearly or one-time.

The Four Alternatives, Reviewed

TradePass

  • Best fit: Solo contractors, handymen and small crews who want their card to lead to quote requests, and who get work through referral partners.
  • Relevant strengths: A quote request form on every card. An email notification for each new request. A lead inbox with simple stages (new, contacted, quoted, won, lost). A unique referral link for each partner. One-tap contact saving. On paid plans, a services list and photo gallery, printable cards and an email signature.
  • Limitations and tradeoffs: TradePass is not a field service platform, so it has no scheduling, invoicing or dispatch. Your profile is a single page on a TradePass link, not a multipage website or custom domain. It has fewer team-admin tools than Blinq Business, and there is no monthly billing option.
  • Verified pricing: Free profile at $0. Annual is $79/year after a 7-day free trial, renewing yearly unless you cancel. Lifetime is $179 once, for access for as long as TradePass operates. NFC card shipping is $7.99 on Annual and free on Lifetime. Checked against our current plan settings on October 7, 2026. See plans and pricing.
  • Why a Blinq user might switch, or might not: Switch if homeowners currently have to call or text you to ask for a quote and you want those requests in one place. Do not switch if you mainly network at events or need team administration.

HiHello

  • Best fit: Individuals who want a strong free plan and more than one card, for example one per business.
  • Relevant strengths: Four free cards, a personal email signature, virtual backgrounds and wallet passes. Professional adds up to 16 cards, contact enrichment, card analytics and full customization.
  • Limitations and tradeoffs: HiHello is built for professionals in general. Card scans are capped at 5 a month on Free and 20 on Professional. We did not confirm which plan includes its custom lead capture form.
  • Verified pricing: Personal is free. Professional is $6/month billed yearly ($72). Business is $5/user/month ($60/user/year) from five users (source).
  • Why a Blinq user might switch, or might not: Worth a look if you want more free cards (four versus Blinq's two). Otherwise the two are similar for basic sharing. Our Popl vs HiHello vs TradePass comparison goes deeper.

Popl

  • Best fit: Companies that capture leads at trade shows, home shows and expos.
  • Relevant strengths: Popl's pricing page focuses on event lead capture: badge scanning, custom lead forms, offline capture, contact enrichment and CRM sync.
  • Limitations and tradeoffs: Popl's website prices team plans by custom quote, and individual plans are sold inside the app. Its tools are aimed at event teams, not at homeowners asking for a quote.
  • Verified pricing: In the US App Store, Pro is $7.99/month or $76.99/year, and Pro Plus is $14.99/month or $144.99/year (source). Team plans are quoted (source).
  • Why a Blinq user might switch, or might not: Consider it if your team works events regularly. A solo contractor sharing with homeowners is unlikely to use most of it.

Wave Connect

  • Best fit: Individuals who want a lead capture form without paying, and small teams of three or more.
  • Relevant strengths: The Free plan lists a lead capture form, unlimited contacts, an email signature and wallet passes. Pro adds a branded QR code, custom colors and layout, CRM sync and removal of Wave branding.
  • Limitations and tradeoffs: Its form is a general lead form, not a quote workflow built for trades. We did not confirm a lead status pipeline or referral-partner tracking.
  • Verified pricing: Free at $0. Pro is listed at $7/month (billing basis not confirmed). Teams is $5/user/month with a three-seat minimum (source).
  • Why a Blinq user might switch, or might not: It is the closest free option if all you want is a simple form on your card. If you do not need a form, Blinq Free already covers sharing.

How the TradePass Quote Workflow Works

Here is what happens from the moment you share a TradePass card, step by step.

  1. 1You share your profile. Send your link by text or email. On a paid plan, you can also use your QR code, printable cards, email signature or NFC card.
  2. 2The homeowner looks you over. Your card opens in their phone browser with no app needed. It shows your contact details and, on paid plans, your services list and photo gallery.
  3. 3They request a quote. The form on your card asks for their name, contact details and a description of the job. They can also save your contact in one tap.
  4. 4You get notified and follow up. You receive an email for each new request. On a paid plan, the request appears in your lead inbox with the customer's details, and you move it from new to contacted, quoted, won or lost.

What Is Free and What Needs a Paid Plan

  • Free: a shareable profile with a quote request form. When someone submits a request, you get an email telling you a request arrived, but the customer's name, phone number and job details stay hidden.
  • 7-day trial or paid plan: full request details, the lead inbox, instant lead notifications, view and tap analytics, QR code, printable cards, email signature, the website customizer, referral partner tracking and the NFC card claim.

How Referral Tracking Works

On a paid plan, you add a referral partner (for example a realtor, property manager or supplier) and TradePass creates a unique link for them. When someone opens your card through that link, TradePass counts the visit and any phone taps, website taps, contact saves and quote requests made from it.

It only sees activity that comes through the partner's link. If a homeowner hears your name and calls you directly, searches for you, or uses your regular link, that referral is not attributed. TradePass also does not track whether a job was completed, and it does not pay referral commissions. You can record a referral rate for your own reference, but any payment is between you and the partner. For a broader comparison, see our guide to referral tracking software for contractors.

Which Option Fits Your Situation

  • Basic free contact sharing: Blinq Free (two cards) or HiHello Personal (four cards). Both cost $0.
  • Contractor inquiries and referral tracking: TradePass, if you want quote requests, a lead inbox and per-partner referral links in one place. If a simple free form is enough, Wave Connect Free is worth a look.
  • Team administration or event networking: Blinq Business, HiHello Business, Popl team plans or Wave Connect Teams, depending on team size and how much event lead capture you do.
  • A one-time payment: TradePass Lifetime ($179 once) is the only one-time software plan we confirmed among these five. Blinq Free plus a one-time NFC card is the lowest-cost way to avoid a bill. Our guide to NFC business cards without a subscription covers more one-time options.

The Bottom Line

Blinq is a good, free way to share your details, and for many contractors that is enough. If you want your card to turn homeowner interest into quote requests you can track, and to show which partners send you work, TradePass is built for that workflow. It is not a replacement for scheduling or invoicing software, and like any card it cannot guarantee leads. Try it for a week and see whether the requests are worth it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a free alternative to Blinq?

Yes. HiHello Personal is free forever and includes four digital cards. Wave Connect Free lists a digital card and a lead capture form at $0. TradePass also has a free profile, but you need the 7-day trial or a paid plan to see the contact details from quote requests. These details were checked on official pricing pages on October 7, 2026.

Is Blinq enough for a solo contractor?

If you mainly need people to save your number and find your details later, Blinq Free covers that at no cost. If you want homeowners to request quotes from your card and you want to track those requests and your referral partners, consider a tool with a built-in inquiry form.

Do customers need an app to view a digital business card?

Not for Blinq or TradePass. Blinq says the person you share with does not need an app, and a TradePass card opens in the phone web browser. We did not confirm this separately for every other tool in this guide.

Can a digital business card accept quote requests?

Some can. TradePass has a quote request form built into every card. Wave Connect lists a lead capture form on its free plan, Blinq lists lead forms on its Business plan, and HiHello lists a custom lead capture form in its plan comparison. We did not confirm which HiHello plan includes the form.

Is an NFC card necessary?

No. You can share any of these cards by text, link or QR code. An NFC card is a convenience for in-person handoffs. With TradePass, paid plans include one NFC card that you claim from your dashboard. Annual subscribers can claim it after the trial converts and pay $7.99 shipping, and Lifetime members get free shipping.

Are any options available without a recurring subscription?

Yes. TradePass Lifetime is a one-time $179 payment for access for as long as TradePass operates, with no renewals. Blinq Free costs nothing, and Blinq sells NFC cards as one-time purchases that work without a subscription.
